MEDIA ADVISORY: Ahead of 2026 Winter Olympics, Potomac Curling Club to Host DC Area Media Day on January 20

 Contact: media@curldc.org

The 2026 Winter Olympics will start on February 6th, viewers throughout the country will discover curling. But did you know that there is a vibrant curling community here in the Washington DC area?

Join members of the Potomac Curling Club on January 20 to learn how to play the sport of curling, talk to curlers from across the DMV, and get ready to answer your audience’s questions about our sport.

We’ll show you everything from the rules of the game to the history and science of the sport. During the media day, reporters and crews will have the opportunity to try out their curling skills after learning the fundamentals of curling. It looks easy on TV, but can you land a rock in the house? Curlers will be on hand throughout the morning to give demonstrations and will be available for interviews.

There will be snacks and giveaways. Reporters are encouraged to try curling. If there is a specific population that you would like to address with interviews, reach out and let us know!

Anyone who will be going out on the ice needs to bring clean athletic shoes to wear; boots, heels, and dress shoes will not be permitted on the ice by anyone. All other equipment will be provided. Warm, athletic wear is recommended.

When: Tuesday January 20th

Time: 10:00am - 2:00pm

Where: Potomac Curling Club, National Capital Curling Center

   13810 Old Gunpowder Rd

  Laurel, MD 20707
