How to Join the Potomac Curling Club

3. Once the club processes your membership form, you will be placed on a PCC Members mailing list to receive periodic official club emails

5. Familiarize yourself with curling rules and etiquette.

Membership Benefits Overview

The Potomac Curling Club has a full season which runs in two halves: typically October to January & January to April. We use a membership base fee for each half season. This base fee gets you access to the club and specific privileges. Our regular membership includes all of the expected perks of our programs, practice ice time, both on & off ice club events, and eligibility to our leagues. Youth and College Program memberships have more limited privileges but include access to their own dedicated programs.  Our Social membership is only for off-ice activities but you can still join in the warm room fun!

Programs are on-ice activities typically run as drop-in curling experiences where you can play a game, get mentoring and/or hone your skills with training. Programs are always free for our regular members, though some require in-advance sign-ups.  Please see our Programs page for more details.

Practice Ice uses a reservation system open to all regular members with dedicated time most Saturday afternoons.  Other open ice times are also available for member use.

Club events vary throughout the year and include fun member-only curling experiences. Most events have a nominal additional fee to cover food/prizes for participants.

• B.O.S.S - our Beginning of Season Shindig opening party to start the curling season; typically in late September when our ice is officially open!
• BIG Spiel - our in-house members only bonspiel encouraging members of all skill levels to participate; typically in January at our mid-season break. 
• Hangover Spiel - our unique New Year's Day curling experience where every end has different rules; January 1st each year!
• Glow Spiel - our glow-in-the-dark curling experience; typically in February every other year
• Short Spiel - our curling short game bonspiel with fun team costumes and the largest trophy at the club; typically in February every other year
• Fling It - our end of the year beginner's bonspiel all in one afternoon; typically in April right before...
• Final Fling - our end of the year closing party where we destroy our carefully manicured ice; typically in April.
• Annual Meeting - our official business meeting including a potluck dinner with extras; typically in May

Leagues are hosted on almost every night of the week with a mix of skills and atmospheres.  Each league is an additional cost and only regular members are eligible to enter our League Lottery to join a league.  The lottery is designed to try and accommodate all members who want to be in a league and prevent a first come first serve rush at registration time. Discounts are available for the regular membership base fee and any league fees; these are currently available upon registration:

• Senior (57+) Discount (20%)
  This discount is available to those who are 57 or older as of the start of the curling year (which officially runs from July 1 – June 30).
• Student Discount (40%)
  This discount is for full time students and may require verification.
• Lifetime Member Discount (Base Membership Fee): 
  This discount is for PCC Lifetime Members only.  Thank you for your support!

We're committed to building a club without barriers to curling - we don't want financial constraints to stop anyone from curling. If the cost of membership is prohibitive for any reason and you would like to apply for a need-based discount, please fill out the following form. * - United States Women's Curling Association (USWCA) memberships are provided for women only.

Expected Payment Process

Members w/ Leagues

In this membership system (e.g., base fee + league fees) with our league lottery, most members in leagues will need to perform two payments each registration half season.

• The first payment is with initial registration where the base fee, add-ons (e.g., lockers) and Capital League fees (for a team's first registrant) is due.
• The second payment is after the lottery when leagues have been assigned. Members will be asked to log in and reconcile the remaining balance on their accounts. 

Members w/o Leagues

These members will only need to pay once in each registration half season on their initial registration. This will include payment of the base fee and add-ons (e.g., lockers).
